“It was awesome! JVC actually gave us an invitation for 2 to Japan, but all of us shared the travelling expenses and went in a group. It was a fantastic experience as the Japanese culture is well-known for their expertise in creativity,” added Reuben, who is currently a tutor at The One Academy.

According to the 22-year-old, ‘Fence’ was the group’s 2nd year multimedia major assignment at The One Academy. A story about social segmentation between races, Fence describes the story about 2 kids breaking the racial barrier between them & crossing over the fence of racial differences.

“We’ve all totally forgotten about the competition. It took JVC about one year to finalise the winners, so we thought we didn’t win when there was no news from them. So, the award was a real surprise!” said Reuben during an interview with El Wong after the prize presentation.
