Canon’s new DSLR pushes the envelope of performance and price

PRESS RELEASE

KUALA LUMPUR, 20th AUGUST 2008– Canon Marketing ( Malaysia ) Sdn Bhd, a global leader in photographic and digital imaging solutions, today unveiled its new EOS 1000D which offers the power and versatility of a DSLR, with great value for money.

Canon’s new addition is a force in driving down the barriers towards the adoption of high performance cameras and systems, by reducing costs, boosting capabilities, while improving ease of use.

The EOS 1000D boasts sharp 10.1 megapixel images, life-like colour, a wealth of camera functions while being highly compatible with the full range of Canon lenses & Speedlites. The EOS 1000D is the best-value platform for young enthusiasts who are passionate in exploring the art and craft of professional photography.

High Performance: DIGIC III + 10.1 megapixel CMOS senor

High Despite its price tag being more affordable to other DSLR range, the EOS 1000D is built on very sound fundamentals:

· Single-piece 10.1 megapixel APS-C size CMOS sensor produces sharp images with fine detail,
· DIGIC III image processor offers life-like, natural colour processing at high speed,
· Excellent noise reduction at high ISO speeds,
· 2.5" live-view LCD

EOS 1000D can record images in JPEG modes as well as RAW format, which can either be stored in SD or SDHC memory cards.

Focused on Photography

The EOS 1000D bridges the gap between an easy to use compact digicam and the high performance of a professional DSLR by offering pragmatic features that instantly elevate the level of photography available to the user.

Boasting a start-up time of a mere 0.1 seconds, users can truly capture images on impulse. High quality images of life’s fleeting moments are made that much easier with its wide-area, high-speed, 7-point autofocus system, with 3 fps continuous shooting for fast-action scenes.

One feature that compact digicam users miss most in a conventional DSLR is the ability to frame a shot using the camera’s LCD screen rather than the optical viewer. In most DSLRs, the LCD screen is for picture review only. Thanks to the revolutionary integration of mechanical shutter in the EOS 1000D CMOS sensor, the mechanical shutter can be kept open even while in shooting mode. Hence the EOS 1000D’s 2.5-inch LCD screen can be used in Live View mode to frame a shot just like with a compact digicam.

Moreover, with the EOS 1000D connected to a computer, Live View shooting can also be effected through the computer screen instead of the LCD — especially handy in instances where focus and composition could benefit from a larger screen.

The unit is also incorporated with EOS Integrated Cleaning System which uses ultrasonic vibrations to shake dust off the CMOS sensor’s low-pass filter. Together with software-based Dust Delete function, users can expect exceptionally clean images.

Ease of Operation

Like the rest of the Canon range, the EOS 1000D is designed with attention to ergonomics and ease of use. It is compact, lightweight, and shaped to fit the user’s hands for comfortable, natural operation, with dedicated buttons for the most important functions.

These include ISO speed, Picture Style, metering mode, drive mode, AF mode and WB mode. The other numerous functions and settings available are accessible via an intuitive menu system, which can also be customised to the user’s preference.

Pricing and Availability

The EOS 1000D (with EFs18-55mm IS kit lens) will be available at authorized Canon Dealers from 20th August 2008 at the recommended retail price of RM 1,999.00.

Promotion

In conjunction with the Nation’s Independence Day, Canon will team up with Berjaya Times Square in the Merdeka Revived Campaign. Canon is set to offer irresistible promotions and gifts with the purchase of EOS 1000D to make the Merdeka day celebrations an even more memorable one.

With every purchase of EOS 1000D, buyers will be given the opportunity to participate in a lucky draw at the booth. Attractive accessories for the EOS 1000D like Speedlite 430 EX II, EFS 55-250 mm IS and EF 50mm F1.8 II will be up for grabs.

Also 1st 50 to register at the booth daily during the promotions will stand a chance to purchase the EOS 1000D kit for only 1000 cents (RM10nett). The units are limited to one purchase per day, so grab this opportunity as soon as possible.

48 Ways To Get Rich

Last week i attended a so-called FREE seminar jointly-conducted by AmBank & Wealth Mentors. It was a truly interesting 1 1/2-hour 'seminar'. The speaker Albert Cheah shared on his experience on how he started his online business and his 4-step secret blueprint to earning thousands of dollars monthly. But toward the end of the 'seminar', i realized that it was a preview session of a 3-day Ultimate Internet Entrepreneur Workshop to be held on 4 - 6 September 2008. Guess what... it's only less than $500 (yes, i said 500 but in USD not RM). It considers reasonable fee for certain people. Furthermore, for AmBank Cardmembers, they will enjoy a 24-month free interest installment payment, which they only need to pay less than RM70/month. It sounds attractive to me... but after due consideration, i have to forgo...! Alternatively, i'm looking for something really FREE at the moment. And finally, i found something which may interest everybody, namely 48 e-books on how to achieve Cash & Power. The e-books consist of:

▪ 7 Power Steps to Making Money
▪ 7 Secrets to Unlimited Traffic

How to Make People Like You in 90 Seconds or Less

In business, we can’t make a living selling to our friends. We don’t have the luxury of choosing our colleagues or our managers, our clients or counterparts in other companies. So learning how to establish rapport with all sorts of people is crucial.

It doesn’t matter whether you’re selling real estate, connecting with an audience, negotiating a deal, designing concept cars, recommending the lamb chops over the chilli con carne, looking for the perfect partner or giving the State of the Union address, you must deliver trust, logic and emotion simultaneously. People must instinctively feel, “I trust you, you make sense and you move me.”

Most people can deliver on one of these elemental forces, some on two: Nicholas Boothman shows how connect on all three instinctive levels.

Blogging Without Prejudice - Blogger's Say @ NST, Tech&U

Original Interview Script:

1. Your blog. When and how did it all start?

When: November 2007

How: I want to share my story/experience when I won myself a set of RM1,888-Motorola RAZR V9 in the lucky draw during the launch of the product. I have not been so lucky before that and I want to express it to the public. Blogging is my channel to get my message out – and it’s free anyway!

http://harlymyeo.blogspot.com/2007/11/rezeki-deepavali-tuah-hari-raya-haji.html

2. The slogan 'Catatan Peribadi Tanpa Prejudis', how did it come about?

When I’m writing anything, I want to write something that reflects my honesty (without relying on the commercial advertising) and hoping that honesty pays… it brings success to my blog. Eg: My first impression on Suzuki SX4 Sedan, I don’t really like it. I even address in my blog that it’s not my top priority list.

http://harlymyeo.blogspot.com/2008/07/2008-suzuki-sx4-sedan-at-88888-why-leh.html

3. What were your aim and hopes when you started the blog? Has it been fulfilled?

As I mentioned in my post (http://harlymyeo.blogspot.com/2008/05/blogging-pengerat-hubungan.html)

I added,

Malah, ia menjadi daya pendorong jika pembaca blog aku meninggalkan komen.”

Whenever I have a new story or something great (freebies) to share with, I will promote to my
friends via SMS or e-mail. Hoping that they will drop by and leave comments. As as today, the traffic is still not high and I’m still yet to get more strategies to increase my hits.

Eventually, I realized that I’m not getting paid by the company or google… or by any other measure, and I will return to my original reason for blogging; for the joy of it!

4. How is your blog different from others in the cyberspace?

Basically my blog is about me – my working routine/dairy. My work involve in magazine publication which required me to attend product launches in several sectors such as technology, telecommunication, food, and automotive as well as my personal involvement in Malay literature (especially bahasa Malaysia poem).

However, to make the blog different from the rest, I provide an added value to my visitors by offering freebies such as e-books, magazines, games, software, MP3 etc.

5. Has blogging changed your life? If yes, in what ways?

Blogs are an ideal medium for experimentation my writing skills. Blogging gives me the freedom to experiment, to try out something new. Hence, blogging has improved my quality of life and quality of writing.

6. Are you glad with your decision to blog? Why?

I regret that why only last year I decided to blog, but not many years ago. However, I glad that now I’m involving in blogging and wish my friends around me do so. We could make the world smaller by blogging.

7. Interesting/memorable things that happened since you started blogging?

When my story was selected by an Indonesian site.

My original post:

http://harlymyeo.blogspot.com/2008/04/panasonic-lumix-fs5-dengan-teknologi-ia.html

8. What's in the pipeline, as far as the blog is concerned?

To me, I need to have an interesting story or idea to share with my readers/visitors. And at least a photo to support my entry. Picture tells a thousand words and it makes my site more colourful.

Begitulah gamaknya jika dah bergelar model profesional. Syabas Finaz!

Thanks brother!

Setelah LUMIX LX3 memberi kesan penggambaran tahap profesional, aku juga ingin mencuba kesan penggambaran melalui LUMIX FX38.
